ASPIN Members Saved Over $777,000 in School Year 2023-2024

by ASPIN Team

For the SY July 2023 – June 2024, ASPIN saved our members using the 21O-SFC-0701 contract $777,294.56 through a combination of quick pay discounts, volume incentives, and credits found during compliance audits. We love saving our members every penny we can!

In addition to offering competitive pricing through our collective purchasing volume, ASPIN ensures all available savings are passed on to our members. Three ways ASPIN passes on savings include:

  • Quick Pay Discounts – ASPIN pays the distributor weekly on behalf of members, which results in a 0.5% discount applied to all ASPIN member invoices.
  • Volume Incentives – Districts receiving large deliveries receive additional incentives: over $8,000 receive a 1% discount, over $15,000 receive a 1.5% discount, and directly shipped orders benefit from a 6% discount. These are applied quarterly.
  • Found Credits – ASPIN diligently audits every item against approved price charts and ensures the validity of delivery fees, uncovering additional savings. When an error is found, we obtain the credit from the vendor and pass the savings right back to you.

By leveraging collective purchasing power and ensuring all savings are passed on to members, ASPIN continues to provide exceptional value and support for Arizona members.

Training in the Pines with Mohave

by Engagement Team

Our Training in the Pines in August could not have been more perfect, both in terms of meeting our members and the weather. Our team enjoyed providing training with 14 different member agencies in Snowflake and Show Low. Video conferencing is great, but nothing beats having face-to-face time with our members. We would like to thank Snowflake USD No. 5 and the City of Show Low for hosting us. We would also like to thank the 25 dedicated members who took time out of their schedule to meet with us, even coming as far away as Tuba City.

Would your agency be interested in hosting our 2025 Roadshow? If so, email nancy@mesc.org to discuss.

International Fresh Produce Association Conference (IFPA) aka “Ag Conference”

by ASPIN Team

ASPIN was invited to participate with Child Nutrition Professionals from across the country in the 2024 IFPA K-12 Foodservice Forum held in Monterey, CA. The invitation was extended as a chance to guide the produce industry’s understanding of how school operators make menu decisions and procure produce, while introducing a variety of fruits and vegetable products that exist in the industry. The conference was experienced in 3 segments:

  1. Field Tours and Fresh-cut Produce Processing – a boots-in-the-field look at broccoli and brussels sprouts harvesting; followed by a tour of the processing facility where produce is processed within 4 hours of leaving the field.
  2. Fresh Produce Expo – over 190 exhibitors presented fresh produce in innovative packaging to chef-inspired recipes.
  3. Ideation and Collaboration – the forum ended the conference in roundtables to share feedback and experiences.

IFPA conference met their goal to provide the attendees with an opportunity for networking, education, product innovation, and an occasion to think about produce in a new way. K-12 schools are a critical part of the foodservice ecosystem. Many are looking for fresh-forward options that mimic what students see at restaurants and other dining experiences. This conference allowed the produce industry to understand the value of our continued partnership.
